As a singer and teacher, physical stamina and freedom are necessities. Sometimes, however, tension creeps in and throws off the muscular balance and support needed for healthy voice production. Alistair has given me techniques to help me maintain this physical equilibrium throughout my busy teaching week. His professional and personable manner make his studio a comfortable place to explore the body without judgement or expectation.

After only having 3 sessions with Alistair, it immediately became apparent that there were aspects of my body that I was unaware of. As a former professional dancer for over 5 years, it is expected that you would have a very clear sense of physical consciousness/awareness. Over the last two months, I have received several Feldenkrais® sessions with Alistair. As a singer, I am aware just how important posture is to a healthy body and a healthy voice. Alistair is totally professional. Through his guidance, I have come to understand a little more of the relationships and connections of one part of the body to another. He has guided me to “ask questions” of my body: how I am perceiving my posture at any given time, and being mindful that old habits can often place much more strain on certain muscle groups and skeletal components than is absolutely necessary. I am aware of a new freedom in my singing voice and there is now less effort to achieve this. I am looking forward to many more lessons with Alistair, and I can thoroughly recommend him as an astute and intuitive practitioner.
